Monthly Spotlight : JIBS celebrates 5th year Anniversary

 

 

Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS) celebrated its fifth anniversary on 3 May 2019 at JGU. The guest address was given by Dr. Jitendra Nagpal, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist & In-charge, Institute of Mental Health & Life Skills Promotion, Moolchand Medcity, New Delhi. The introductory address was given by Professor (Dr.) Sanjeev P. Sahni Principal Director, Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences and special address was given by Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor, JGU which was attended by over 300 faculty and staff members. Dr. K. Chockalingam shared his experiences and emphasised his long standing association with JIBS and JGU.

Students also shared their reflections about their experiences with courses conducted by JIBS and their benefits. There was also an exhibition of posters on the achievements of JIBS during the last 5 years.

 

 

JIBS completed five years since its inception on April 22, 2019. There are 3 Research Centres at JIBS: Centre for Victimology and Psychological Studies, Centre for Leadership and Change and Centre for Community Mental Health.

 

The Institute organises Teacher Training Programmes and Professional Training Programmes across India and the world. A total of 23,000 participants and 2144 schools have been trained so far. There are currently 14 full-time PhD Research Scholars and 1 part-time Research Scholar. JIBS has published 11 books and 31 book chapters since 2014. It has undertaken a total of 15 research projects over the last 5 years. There are two laboratories at JIBS – Brain Behaviour Laboratory and Forensic Laboratory.

 

JIBS is a value-based research Institute of JGU. JIBS is a member of the Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS). The Institute is dedicated to engaging in behavioural science research that multidisciplinary and empirical in nature. The Institute primarily focusses on applied and experimental research in the areas of mental health, competency, mapping, neurosciences, neural decision sciences, psychobiology, management sciences, forensic sciences, social psychology and criminal behaviour. It has also been working with top researchers from different disciplines by collaborating with national and international researchers to address critical issues in human behaviour from a multi-disciplinary perspective.

 

Over the past five years, the Institute has covered an evolutionary journey to establish an Institute in Asia that conducts and applies best behavioural and social practices in innovation, education, research, scholarship, and clinical care.
