Global Library organises talk and book discussion on KUMBH: India in a Mela
The Global Library at JGU organised a talk and book discussion on KUMBH: India in a Mela with Dr. Gopa Nayak Professor & Director, English Language Centre, JGU and on 1 May 2019 at JGU.
The panellists included Dr. Galina R. Sokolova, Associate Professor, Jindal School of Liberal Arts; Mr. Buddhi Prakash Chauhan, Director, Global Library, JGU; Ms. Poulomi Bhadra, Assistant Professor and Assistant Director, Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences.
About the Book
Kumbh Mela provides a broad perspectives of the entire range of the varied thoughts and practices of the Hindu way of life. While some is a visual feast at the Kumbh Mela, most of it can only be sensed and felt. The foremost among such feelings is that of equanimity or samarasata as it is understood in native parlance. Equanimity pervades at Kumbh for all castes, genders, communities, regions, and even classes. Feelings of ‘We versus they’ cease to exist here and the spirit of organic interconnectedness among all living and non-living beings in all pervasive.
About the Authors
Gopa Nayak is currently engaged as the Director of English Language Centre at JGU. An academician, researcher and a poetess, Gopa was born and raised initially in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha where her father served as the professor of Sanskrit in Utkal University.
After graduation from Ravenshaw College, she went to Delhi School of Economics for her first Master’s degree and completed her education at the University of Oxford with a DPhil in English Language Teaching.
Uday Sahay, a voluntarily retired IPS officer, has emerged as one of the foremost communication, professionals in India today. A Master in Sociology from Delhi School of Economics. He has been the communication adviser to organisations including ONGC, UIDAI, DIMTS, IGTMS University, LBSIM, and IHD among other. Sahay has nine books to his credit. He has edited a bestselling book on media titled Making News, Published by Oxford University Press.
